What to Expect When You Visit

Visiting a new church can be intimidating: What should I wear? Where do I park? Where do my kids go?

We understand the many thoughts that can come from visiting a new church, so we want you to feel completely comfortable when you visit. Below are some frequently asked questions. If you have any additional questions, don’t hesitate to contact us or visit the Welcome Center in the foyer of the main entrance when you visit.

When are services?
Services are on Sundays 10am and also on Wednesday evenings at 7pm.

What should I wear?
Most services our leaders will enjoy jeans over suits, but whatever makes you comfortable suits us just fine. We want you to feel comfortable. After all, we are thrilled that you’re joining us and want you to be more focused on the service than what you’re wearing. In the summertime, it’s not uncommon to see people wearing sandals, shorts, and a shirt. Others prefer to still put on their “Sunday best,” and that’s fine too! We think you’ll fit in no matter how you dress.

Where should I park and what building do I go to?
You may park in any available spot; any reserved parking is clearly marked. We have 3 separate buildings on our church property.  Immediately upon pulling into parking lot you will see a Brick Building.  That’s our Youth Activities Center.  We hold youth meetings, Tuesday Bible Studies there, along with small group gatherings such as V Life events, women’s meetings etc.  Beside the Brick Building, you will see our Children’s Church Building (marked with playground equipment out front) and Gymnasium.  As you circle around, you will come to the Main Sanctuary building and church office.  That’s where it all begins.

Where do my children go?

Rock City Children’s Ministry (infants through 6th Grade, Ablaze Youth Ministries grades 7 through 12) is the perfect place for your children, to go while you attend service. Children will be dismissed immediately following praise and worship and the offering and escorted by teachers and an usher to the Gymnasium Building. At the end of the service, the children will be escorted back to the Main Sanctuary to be reunited with parents. The Infant Room is located in the back of the Sanctuary. Mothers with infants under 3 are welcome to stay with their child or they can be left with the nursery attendant on duty. (Breastfeeding privacy is available in the nursery).

Am I expected to put money in the offering?
If you are visiting with us, we don’t expect you to put money in the offering, and you are welcome to just let it pass you by. If you consider The ROCK your church home, we’d love for you to prayerfully consider giving to The ROCK. You can give by check, cash, or debit/credit card during the service, or you can donate on this site.

How long is a typical service?
Typically a ROCK service is 2 hours in length from beginning of worship until end of sermon.

What is a Worship service like?
Our worship is sometimes loud and is always exciting and energetic in the Lord! Worship is usually 30 minutes and is sometimes followed by a prophetic word given to encourage or edify (1 Cor. 14: 3,31) or a brief message in tongues, followed by an interpretation (1 Cor. 14: 5,18, 27).

Too loud? No problem, feel free to hang out in the Infant Room until worship is over. You can still participate and enjoy the service as there is a large window to keep you connected to what’s happening in the sanctuary. Too long? Have a seat; you won’t offend us, just enjoy!
